Is Sleeping Less the Key to Reach Your Goals?

Text reading "sleep is overrated" over dark haired woman sleeping in a fluffy white bed

You’re a busy person.

You have big plans, huge goals you are busting your butt to achieve.

You are focused, relentless in your pursuit of these goals and determined to not let any barrier stand in your way.

Nothing is more important to you than achieving these goals and you act with great urgency each day to bring them closer to your grasp.

A few weeks ago, we discussed a trait common to the most successful people throughout history.

A review of their habits showed these folks tended to sleep far less than the rest of us. They just had too much to do to spend the time sleeping.

Today I invite you to join the 5 AM club.

I invite you to forgo a minimum of one hour of sleep for 100 consecutive days and use that extra hour to accelerate the achievement of your goals.

If you already wake up before 6 AM then membership in this club requires you to set your alarm – mental or real – one hour earlier for the next 100 days.

Sounds unrealistic, but is it?

Sleep or Accomplish?

Take a moment and think of how much more you could get done if you just had one extra hour each day.

You can go to the gym before you go to work.

You can plan and focus without interruption.

You could have some quiet time to plan, strategize and energize before your kids/ spouse/ dogs wake up.

You can enjoy a long walk while soaking up the beauty of an early morning sunrise.

You could free up desk time and squeeze one extra sales calls/client meeting each day.

You could work on that book you’ve been saying you’re going to write for the last 15 years.

There are a million things you could do with that extra hour.

And most certainly you can breathe extra life into your goals and bring them home far earlier than expected.

No Downside

There’s no downside. Only benefits.

The time you get up each morning is nothing more than a habit you have developed and reinforced through daily repetition.

And at the end of these 100 days you’ll have a new habit. My prediction is you will derive such great benefit from forsaking one hour of sleep each day, you will continue to do so because the pleasure of one extra hour of sleep cannot come close to matching the joy of accomplishment that an extra hour of living will provide you.

So please, accept my invitation. If you are absolutely, unconditionally irrevocably, irretrievably, irreversibly, irrepressibly committed to those goals, and want to reach even higher for the stars, membership in this club is a no-brainer.

Sure, the first few days may be challenging, but so what? Everything worthwhile comes with challenges and as we all know, challenges are simply opportunities for growth.

And as a wise person once said, “if we’re not growing, we’re shrinking.”

The 5 AM club currently has 27 members – clients of mine who have all committed to this hundred-day growth opportunity. I would like to see that number reach 100.

Please stretch yourself and accept my invitation. Instead of an RSVP, email me at rael@strategicpathways.net with the words “I’m in.”

I’ll get right back to you and we can plan your adventure together.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sleep well.

Till we read again.

Before you go: I am teaching an intensive program to reach your goals by harnessing discipline, even if you’ve never managed to have any. It’s called OBSESSION: 100 Day Bootcamp to Optimal Performance. In it, you’ll learn what habits are holding you back, what you can do to change your habits, and the exact daily practices you need to adopt to reach your goals. The first cohort is already underway, and the second is starting soon. A couple of spaces left, so if you want to reach your big goals, the ones that keep alluding you, contact me for more information: tellmemore@strategicpathways.net.
