The Time Has Come to Say Goodbye …

The Time Has Come to Say Goodbye …

… to the format I have been using for a shade under 11 years.

On August 2, 2009 I posted my first blog with the enticing title of “Life sinks or soars to the beat of our thoughts.”

My goal back then was a simple. I had a lifelong fear (darn near a phobia) of writing. The thought of writing anything, even a business proposal, instilled in me a near-paralyzing fear and I developed world-class procrastination skills. I mastered the art of inventing countless reasons for delaying any writing.

My reason for posting that first blog was purely therapeutic. I convinced myself that by posting 10 blogs – one per week for 10 weeks – I would be forevermore cured of my writing fear.

And so I did. For 10 weeks, each week I posted a new blog and when the 10 weeks were up, well … I just continued and this blog is number 567 which means I have posted a blog for 567 consecutive weeks – just a mere seven weeks shy of 11 years.

On January 9, 2013, I began a second weekly blog – centered around the role that habits played in our lives – and continued this theme for 296 postings, bring my total number of blogs to 863.

Somewhere in the midst of all of this, in early 2010, I completed my first book, “Life sinks or soars – the choice is yours,” and have since written a second book, “Everything you believe to be true is true … until it isn’t.”

I’m not sure when I will have the courage to publish it. (Editor’s Note: If I have anything to say about it, Rael will let me get my hands on his book for editing, and bring you an insightful follow up to his best selling first book by the end of 2020. -Bridget)

I think I can safely say I no longer have a fear of writing, but I feel the time has come to move on and seek other means of expression.

I am slowly (very, very, very slowly) becoming comfortable with video and it is my intention to continue connecting with folks just like you through media other than the written word. As an avid reader, I am also looking forward to writing book reviews, conducting video interviews with people more successful than me and experimenting with webinars, online programs and free resources like the PDFs some of you may have downloaded from my website. These elements take more time than a blog, so you can expect to hear from me less frequently, but I think you will enjoy the new content.

One of my favourite quotes reminds me that “if you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.” It is time for me to heed that lesson and expand my own horizons by exploring new, diverse and exciting methods of reaching out to all of you and, hopefully, many others.

I don’t know what my new format will look like, but there is something I do know: many of you have been reading my ramblings for years and it is your thoughtful comments and inspiring messages that have provided me the energy and passion to write 863 blogs. You have praised me when I have done well, corrected me when I have faltered, and soundly criticized me when I have messed up.

For this, there are no words to express my gratitude, appreciation and love.

With tears blurring my vision I want to say, “Today is not goodbye.”

It is merely au revoir.

Till we read connect again.
