Have you been putting off doing something that you know you should be doing? Perhaps something that would be beneficial to you, that you would like to have completed, and that you just never quite seem to get around to doing or to sticking with?
You know what I mean! Losing that extra 25 pounds; quitting smoking; getting in the best shape of your life; going for a long walk every evening; reading; completing a course; joining Toastmasters; taking ballroom dancing lessons, etc.
I struggle to believe that this trait called procrastination is a unique disease of which I am the only victim on the planet.
It is my belief that the vast majority of us suffer from this affliction, so today, to all of you, I issue a challenge. One week from tomorrow is the beginning of September and that day will be the Day One of my 90 day challenge.
I challenge those of you courageous enough to accept this challenge to select one goal you have regularly put off or simply played at half-heartedly and, beginning September 1st, commit the next 90 days to driving yourself relentlessly towards achieving it – or being well on your way to doing so.
November 30, the 90th day (actually 91st day) is my birthday and it’s a Big One.
How big, you ask?
It is so big that on that day I will be older than I have ever been before.
This challenge is a serious one and so please consider your participation very carefully as I am going to ask you to make an ironclad, irreversible, nonnegotiable, no surrender, no excuse, no backing down, no going back, commitment to yourselves to give it everything you’ve got for 90 days.
I ask you to select as your objective something that will indeed change your life because you will spend 90 days in a fight for your life.
I don’t mean a life or death struggle. I mean you will be fighting for one of two lives; the life you have presently have or the life that achieving this goal will bring forth to you.
Only one of them can win.
By agreeing to this, you also agree to check in with me every day, by email or text, to simply acknowledge that you’ve done what you said you would do – that you have met your commitment.
I will be taking this challenge with you.
By November 30th, my next birthday, I will be in the best, toughest, hardest shape I’ve been in for as long as my rapidly failing memory can recall.
I have developed a plan of how I am going to get there – a 90 day plan – and I am today committing to pay whatever price is necessary, in terms of effort, energy, sacrifice and pain endurance to reach my goal.
I will not quit.
I will not fail.
I’m asking you to join me on this journey. There’s great strength in numbers and the more of us who undertake to give it our all and put it all out there in pursuit of what, for some of us, will be the realization of a lifelong dream, the greater, and noisier, will be the celebration of mass success on November 30.
If you are willing to commit, please send an email to me at rael@raelkalley.com with a brief description of your goal for the 90 day period. Please include your consent for me to use your first name and a brief description of your goal when we metaphorically gather at the starting line which will be next Saturday’s blog.
Should you prefer your name not to be mentioned I will, of course, honor your request.
One more thing; in your email to me, please commit to text me at (403) 862-5019 or email me at Ididit@strategicpathways.net every day, for 90 days, with the words “I did it” at the end of each day.
The 90 days from September 1 through November 30 will pass whether you take up this challenge or not.
The question for each of us is where will we be at the end of 90 days? Will we still be where we are today or will we have won the life we have long dreamed about?
An extremely interesting question, don’t you think?
I can’t wait to hear from you.
Till we read again.
