Earlier this week I sat and listened, wide-eyed, in wonder, as the lady sitting across from me shared the story of her most recent visit to her family doctor.
I had first met this lady some nine or weeks earlier when she had contacted me through a mutual acquaintance to inquire about a 60 day coaching program that I had been have been offering to my clients since August of last year.
I had spent a pleasant hour discussing the program with her and she had called back a few days later to tell me to say she was ready to begin.
We went to work, and here she was, eight weeks later, gushing and telling me that with the blessing of her doctor she was no longer taking medication for depression.
She had been on medication since the early part of this year and had been seeking a way off.
Cheryl is an absolute delight to work with. She is one of those people who does everything she commits to, offers no excuses, and works tirelessly to achieve every goal she sets for herself.
That has been my experience in working with her and listening to her excitement filled me with a feeling of indescribable joy.
Nearly three months ago, on August 13, I received a call from Evelyn. Evelyn lives in Australia and was one of the first people to sign up for this program when I began offering it last year. I had tried to talk her out of participating in this program as my initial intent had been to work one-on-one with people, face-to-face in my office.
Evelyn had been persistent or, in her words, “I’m a professional nag” and we conducted each session by phone. The call on August 13 had been from Evelyn to share with me a few minutes of her first anniversary – one year of sobriety.
Evelyn is an alcoholic and much of her life has been spent waging losing wars against her liquid demons only to end up drowning inside them.
She took to this program like the proverbial duck to water and month after month we measured her progress. August 13 was indeed a milestone so worthy of celebration and I remember both laughing and crying while chatting on the phone and enjoying a few minutes of that special day with her.
These two wonderful ladies are typical of the incredible changes I have seen in people as they work hard at adopting the single premise upon which this entire program is based.
I seldom use this space to write of my own experiences but I choose to do so today neither to brag nor to self-promote but rather to say with pride that I have never in my entire career ever been involved with anything that consistently produces the jaw-dropping long-term results that I have witnessed since that very first person – Evelyn – finished the program way back in October 2013.
I would love to report that 100% of people of those who have begun this journey with me have achieve these results. That would be untrue. What I can say the is that pretty close to 100% of those who have begun this journey and kept their commitments to themselves, have experienced profound benefits that will enhance the quality of their lives for years and years to come.
And yet it is all so really simple.
This entire program is based on several premises, the most profound being this: We are the story we tell ourselves. Change the story and everything changes.
And I’ve seen the “everything” with many people as they have worked hard to change their stories because by so doing we change what we believe to be true and when we change what we believe to be true of ourselves our spirit soars.
From dramatic weight loss to massive business improvements, the diversity and frequency of results experienced by so many folks have been truly remarkable.
I am not writing this as a sales brochure to entice anyone into this program. Instead I’m doing so because I want to tell you of the joy that comes into my life into my life consistently as I listen to the Cheryl’s and the Evelyn’s and the many others whose new stories have given them new lives
It’s remarkable what can happen in 60 days and I am humbled to have played a tiny part in the transformation of so many. It is an honour and a privilege to meet and work with those many Cheryl’s and Evelyn’s and my gratitude to them knows no bounds.
Thank you, all of you. I am a better person for having known you.
Till we read again.
