100 Days to New Habits

Any idea how long it takes to form new habits?
Like you, I have heard the nonsense spouted by so-called experts that it takes 21 days to form a new habit, yet I have not found one single piece of hard data to support that ridiculous claim.
I have studied and worked in the field of habits for many, many years and I know exactly how long it takes to change one. In fact the answer is always the same: it takes as long as it takes.
There is one other thing about habits I know to be true: the longer a person sustains a new behaviour, the longer they are likely to continue doing so.
If you are a subscriber to my blog, you know the critical role habits play in everything we do, every minute of every hour of every day. This means one thing – if you are not living the life you want, look no further than the habits you have acquired.
It Takes OBSESSION
So, it is safe to assume that if we practice all the components of new habits, from beliefs to behaviours, for 100 days then it is highly probable that we will continue those practices far beyond.
I have long believed that being obsessed with achieving a goal, and immersing ourselves in every piece of its actualization, is a surefire way of converting a dream into a reality.
On several occasions I have worked with clients on a 100-day journey to excellence during which time they have committed to absolute obsession with, and immersion in, everything necessary to achieve their goal(s).
In every case the results at the end of 100 days have been nothing short of amazing, with each client emerging a very different person from the individual who began on Day 1.
